GCash crypto means GCrypto, the crypto section inside the GCash app. If your account is Fully Verified, you can buy about 45 assets with pesos already in your wallet, from as little as 1 USDT. Top-ups and withdrawals between GCash and GCrypto are free; you pay through the spread built into the price.
That simplicity is why GCrypto is where millions of Filipinos buy their first crypto. GCash reported 94 million registered accounts and 40.4 million monthly active users in early 2026, so for most people the button is already on their phone. What the app does not make obvious is who actually runs the crypto part, how much the spread costs, and what happens when you send coins to another wallet. This guide covers all three.
What GCrypto is, and who stands behind it
GCash itself is an e-money issuer operated by G-Xchange, Inc. and regulated by the BSP, but it is not on the BSP list of virtual asset service providers. The crypto trading is done by PDAX, the Philippine Digital Asset Exchange, which is a licensed VASP with its office in Ortigas. GCash’s own help centre puts it plainly: GCrypto is “powered by PDAX”. You can confirm PDAX’s status on the official BSP VASP list, which had nine licensed firms as of 15 July 2026.
In practice this means your coins are held on PDAX infrastructure while you see and trade them in the GCash app. You never need a separate PDAX account. It also means the rules that apply to licensed providers, such as anti-money-laundering checks and customer identification, apply to your GCrypto activity. If you want the wider picture of which platforms are licensed and which have been blocked, see our list of licensed crypto exchanges in the Philippines.
To find it, open GCash, tap View All on the dashboard and choose GCrypto under the Enjoy section, as described on GCash’s GCrypto page. You need a Fully Verified account; a basic account will see the tile but won’t be able to trade.
Which coins you can buy in GCash
The GCash help centre’s coins and networks list showed about 45 distinct assets on 26 September 2026, spread across 53 token-and-network combinations. Alongside Bitcoin and Ether you will find stablecoins such as USDC, PYUSD and EURC, gold-backed tokens (GOLD and PAXG, with GOLD starting at ₱500), and USDT on six networks, including TRON, TON, Celo, Kaia and Avalanche. USDC was added in March 2025 in partnership with Circle.
The network count matters more than the coin count. USDT on TRON and USDT on Avalanche are the same dollar token, but they live on different blockchains and are not interchangeable. Whenever you send or receive, you pick the coin and the network. We come back to this below, because it is the single most common way people lose money with GCash crypto.
How to buy crypto in GCash, step by step
The first purchase takes about five minutes if your account is already Fully Verified. If it isn’t, finish verification first (valid ID and a selfie in the app), because you can’t trade without it.
- Open GCrypto
From the GCash dashboard tap View All, then GCrypto. The first time, you may be asked to accept the GCrypto terms and answer a few onboarding questions.
- Top up GCrypto from your wallet
Move pesos from your GCash balance into GCrypto. This transfer is free. Fully Verified accounts can top up up to ₱100,000 a day.
- Pick a coin and tap Buy
Enter the amount in pesos or in the coin. The price refreshes about every 10 seconds and already includes GCash’s service and platform fees.
- Check the price, then confirm
Compare the buy price with the sell price shown for the same coin. The gap is your real cost. Confirm, and the coin appears in your GCrypto portfolio within seconds.
- Use limit orders if you are patient
Instead of buying at the current price, you can set a limit order that fills only if the market reaches the price you choose.
Selling works the same way in reverse: sell the coin for pesos inside GCrypto, then withdraw to your GCash wallet for free. From there the money is ordinary GCash balance you can spend, send by InstaPay or cash out at a partner outlet. Our guide to selling crypto for cash in the Philippines compares those exits.
GCash crypto fees: what you actually pay
According to the GCrypto fees page (updated 27 September 2026), GCash charges nothing to move pesos between your wallet and GCrypto, and nothing to receive crypto. Buying and selling show no separate fee because the price you see “already includes service and platform fees”.
That last part is the spread. GCash does not publish it, so the only way to know is to look at the buy and sell price for the same coin at the same moment. If Bitcoin shows a buy price noticeably above the sell price, that difference is roughly what a round trip costs you. On a licensed order book such as Coins.ph, the USDT/PHP gap was one centavo on 28 September 2026, which shows how thin a spread can be when buyers and sellers meet directly. Spreads on smaller tokens are usually wider than on USDT or BTC. We compare real costs across apps in our crypto fees and spreads guide.
Sending crypto out of GCrypto costs a fee that varies per coin and includes the blockchain network fee. The app shows it before you confirm, and it can be larger than you expect on busy networks, so check it every time rather than assuming last week’s number still holds.
GCash crypto limits
Limits depend on your GCash account type. The figures below come from GCash’s GCrypto transaction limits article, updated 28 September 2026.
| Limit | Fully Verified | GCash Plus |
|---|---|---|
| Top-up to GCrypto | ₱100,000 per day | ₱100,000 per day |
| Withdraw to GCash wallet | ₱100,000 per month | ₱500,000 per month |
| Minimum order | 1 USDT / 0.00002 BTC | 1 USDT / 0.00002 BTC |
| Maximum order | 1,000,000 USDT | 1,000,000 USDT |
The monthly withdrawal cap is the one that catches people. If you buy ₱300,000 of crypto over a few days on a regular Fully Verified account, you can’t bring all of it back to your GCash wallet in the same month. Plan big exits in advance, or keep larger balances on a platform with higher cash-out limits.
How to send crypto from GCash, and how to receive
GCrypto can send to and receive from outside blockchain addresses. This is useful if you want to move coins to a wallet you control, or bring in USDT a client paid you. It is also where mistakes become permanent, because blockchain transfers cannot be reversed.
Sending out
Open the coin in GCrypto, tap Send, then paste the destination address. Choose the network that the receiving wallet shows for that same coin. If the destination displays a memo or destination tag, enter it exactly; GCash’s page notes that the tag field is optional, but some receiving platforms need it to credit your account. Review the send fee and total, then confirm. For any first transfer to a new address, send a small test amount, wait for it to arrive and only then send the rest.
Receiving
To get your GCash crypto wallet address, open the coin, tap Receive and pick the network. GCrypto shows a QR code and an address, sometimes with a tag. Give the sender both the address and the network name. If the address field looks blank, shows “null” or doesn’t load, don’t share it; close the app, update it and try again, or contact support.
USDT on TRON sent to a USDT address on another network may never arrive, and GCash may not be able to recover it. Always match coin and network on both sides, include any memo or tag, and test with a small amount first. Anyone who pressures you to skip the test is a red flag; our crypto scams guide explains why.
We don’t recommend sending coins to Binance, OKX, Bybit or other exchanges the SEC has flagged or the NTC has blocked. If you need USDT specifically, our guide to buying USDT in the Philippines covers networks and licensed places to buy and sell it.
Is GCash crypto safe?
What works
- Runs on PDAX, a BSP-licensed VASP
- Free transfers between GCash wallet and GCrypto
- Low minimum: 1 USDT or 0.00002 BTC
- About 45 assets, USDT on six networks
- Send, receive and limit orders are built in
Watch out
- Spread is built into the price and not disclosed
- Withdraw limit of ₱100,000 per month on Fully Verified
- Send fees vary by coin and network
- Wrong-network sends are usually unrecoverable
- GCash app rates 3.05 on the PH App Store (about 163k ratings)
The platform risk is modest: a licensed provider holds the crypto, and GCash is a regulated e-money issuer. The bigger risks are market risk and human error. Prices can fall sharply within days, and most losses we hear about come from people sending coins to an “investment coach”, a fake exchange or the wrong network, none of which GCash can undo. Crypto gains may also have tax consequences; our crypto tax guide covers what to record.
GCash crypto not working? Common causes
GCash does not run a public status page for GCrypto, so “GCash crypto not working today” usually has one of a few explanations. Scheduled maintenance can pause buying and selling. An outdated app version can hide the GCrypto tile or make screens fail to load. An account that is not, or is no longer, Fully Verified can’t trade until verification is completed. And sending on a particular coin can be paused while its network is congested or upgrading.
Update the app first, then check GCash’s official announcements and the help centre. If a transfer is stuck, note the transaction hash from the send screen; you can look it up on the coin’s public block explorer to see whether the network has confirmed it. For missing deposits, give GCash support the hash, the coin and the network you used.
Best crypto to buy in GCash: how to think about it
We don’t publish picks, and anyone who promises you the “next coin to 10x” in GCash is selling something. A better question is what the money is for. If you want to hold dollars or receive freelance payments, a stablecoin such as USDT or USDC does that job with little price swing, though it depends on its issuer. If you want long-term exposure to crypto itself, Bitcoin is the most established asset and the one with the deepest markets. Small and meme tokens move fastest in both directions and usually carry wider spreads.
A listing in GCrypto is not a recommendation. Start with an amount you could lose without it hurting, buy in small portions over time rather than all at once, and write down each purchase with its date and peso value. If you want a broader starting point, read our guide on how to buy Bitcoin in the Philippines.
GCrypto vs Coins.ph, and where Maya fits
GCrypto wins on convenience: no new app, no new account, pesos already in place. Coins.ph wins on cost and depth. It is a BSP-licensed VASP in its own right, lists about 150 tokens, charges 0.10% maker and 0.15% taker on its Spot screen, and offers higher limits once you verify your identity. Many people use both: GCash for day-to-day money, Coins.ph for larger trades. If you’re comparing e-wallets, our Maya crypto guide covers Maya’s ₱1 minimum and its own VASP licence, and the full ranking sits on our page of the best crypto exchanges in the Philippines.
GCrypto works the same in Manila, Cebu City or Davao: all you need is a Fully Verified account and pesos in your wallet, which you can load at hundreds of thousands of partner outlets.
Frequently asked questions
Is GCash crypto safe and legit?
GCrypto is legitimate. It runs inside the GCash app and is powered by PDAX, which is on the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas list of licensed virtual asset service providers. That covers the platform, not the price: crypto can still fall sharply, and scams that trick you into sending coins are not reversible. Keep your MPIN private and never send crypto to someone you met online.
What is the GCash crypto limit?
A Fully Verified GCash account can top up GCrypto with up to ₱100,000 a day and withdraw up to ₱100,000 a month back to the GCash wallet. GCash Plus users have the same ₱100,000 daily top-up but can withdraw up to ₱500,000 a month. Single orders are capped at 1,000,000 USDT, and the minimum is 1 USDT or 0.00002 BTC.
How much is the GCash crypto fee?
Moving pesos between your GCash wallet and GCrypto is free, and receiving crypto is free. When you buy or sell, the price already includes GCash’s service and platform fees, so there is no separate line item, but there is a spread that GCash does not publish. Sending crypto to an outside wallet has a fee that varies by coin and includes the network fee.
Where is my GCash crypto wallet address?
Open GCrypto, pick the coin you want to receive, tap Receive and choose the network. The app then shows a QR code and an address for that coin and network. Some coins also show a destination tag or memo, which the sender must include. Never reuse an address for a different coin or network.
Can I send crypto from GCash to Binance or another wallet?
Technically GCrypto can send supported coins to outside blockchain addresses. We do not recommend sending to Binance or other exchanges that the SEC has flagged or the NTC has blocked in the Philippines. If you send to a wallet you control or a licensed exchange, match the network exactly and test with a small amount first.
What is the best crypto to buy in GCash?
There is no single best coin, and we do not give picks. Decide first what the money is for. Stablecoins such as USDT or USDC hold a dollar value, Bitcoin is the most established volatile asset, and small tokens swing hardest. Start with an amount you can afford to lose and check the buy and sell price gap before committing.
Why is GCash crypto not working today?
The common causes are scheduled maintenance, an outdated app, a GCash account that is not Fully Verified, or a coin whose network is temporarily paused for sending. Update the app, check GCash’s official announcements and help centre, and wait before retrying. If crypto you sent has not arrived, keep the transaction hash and contact GCash support through the app.
